I have many fond memories of Walt Whitman days and still enjoy visiting D.C., but the best decision I ever made was to move to Santa Fe, New Mexico. I live on the land my grandfather homesteaded in the 1930's. Amongst all the renegades, artists, and misfits, I feel normal.

It's not an easy place to make a living though, so I've had to be creative and have variously been a bookkeeper (with finally my own business), a counselor after getting an MA, and a teacher at a local community college. I was not successful though when I tried to start a dog walking business during the recent recession. :)

My greatest passion, photography, earned me some renown and if, during the '90's, you saw an exhibit on New Mexico at our National Museum of American History on the D.C. Mall, those were my photos. My photo collection of New Mexico is now housed at the Museum of New Mexico's photo archives. You can see examples if you google my name under "Images." I've also explored many other artistic mediums which relentlessly pile up in drawers and corners of my studio. You can see examples at anniesahlin.com.

Oh, and I've traveled a lot. Hitchhiking through Europe (when you could carry the $5 a day book), school in Norway, time in Morocco, a tour of then Leningrad, and teaching English in and exploring Turkey. Now I think it's time to see our National Parks.

The love of my friends (including some dear ones from Bethesda), former lovers and husbands, and my family are what have sustained me. Not to mention a succession of dogs.

I won't be coming to the reunion, but you guys have a wonderful time and I'll look forward to seeing the reunion pdf book!
